Program Durations
Certificate Programs
The duration of study for a certificate Programme taught in any faculty at MPUC shall normally extend over a period of six months but not more than two academic years.
Diploma Programs
The duration of study for a diploma Programme taught in any faculty at MPUC shall normally extend over a minimum period of eighteen months but not more than three academic years.
Degree Programs
The duration of study for a degree Programme in the faculty of Engineering shall normally extend over a period of five (except for Computing that shall extend for a period of four academic years) but not more than eight academic years.
The duration of study for a degree Programme in the faculty of Applied and Health Sciences shall normally extend over a period of four but not more than six academic years.
Duration of study for a degree in the faculty of Business and Social Studies shall normally extend over a period of four but not more than six academic years.
Programme duration:
- The academic year shall be divided into two semesters.
- Candidates admitted with an Ordinary Diploma in relevant disciplines into the Bachelors degree programmes in the relevant faculty, as per the faculty entry requirements, may be considered for exemption in Units equivalent to one academic year. Such students shall join the relevant programme at the start of the second year of study, unless otherwise specified by the respective faculty.
- Candidates admitted with Diploma in relevant disciplines with a minimum grade of credit into the Bachelor degree programmes in the relevant faculty, as per the faculty entry requirements, may be considered for exemption in units equivalent to three academic years (for a five academic year Programme) and two academic years (for a four academic year Programme) . Such students shall join the relevant programme at the start of the fourth year of study (for a five academic year Programme) and third academic year (for a four academic year Programme), unless otherwise specified by the respective faculty.
- Candidates with Higher National Diploma from a recognized institution or polytechnic with a working experience of not less than three years shall be considered for a Bachelors degree programme in the relevant faculty, as per the faculty entry requirements, may be considered for exemption in units equivalent to three academic years (for a five academic year Programme) and two academic years (for a four academic year Programme). Such candidates shall join the relevant programme at the start of the fourth academic year of study (for a five academic year Programme) and third academic year of study (for a four academic year Programme), unless otherwise specified by the respective faculty.
- Candidates studying a TIVET approved Bachelors Programme shall be given a chance to exit at the end of third academic year after successful completion of the three year Programme. Such candidates shall be awarded a Technical Diploma after successful submission of research project.
