The Hospitality & Tourism Management department was established as an independent academic unit in August 2007.
Prior to the establishment of the department, catering courses were offered under the Enterprise Development Centre
(EDC) whose core programmes were Community Development and Entrepreneurship. The department has a newly completed
and modern Hospitality & Tourism Training Centre, which is not only used for practical training but also acts as guest
facility hosting Conferences, Seminars and Workshops as well as a walk-in clients. The programmes offered by the department
are structured to deliver excellence in line with the institution’s vision. The current
departmental student population is above 400. Students in the department take either internal University examination or KNEC.
The department is currently developing curricula for both degree and diploma programmes besides launching of the programmes so
as to cater for the increased demand for quality university level technology education and training as well as maintaining and
enhancing quality training.
