Note from the Chairman

Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Department has existed since the inception of the then MIOME later renamed Mombasa Technical Institute, The Mombasa Polytechnic College in 1972 and finally The Mombasa Polytechnic University College in 2008. The department initially offered craft courses in engineering, graduating to technician courses in it’s early formative stage. Presently the department offers Certificate, Diploma and Higher Diploma courses in Mechanical Engineering and Chemical Engineering. It has an average student population of 800 students in each academic semester.

The department also offers tailor made short course, seminars and research activities in collaboration with our industrial and organization partners. Mechanical and Automotive Engineering department intends to launch it’s Degree courses soon.
